It has been a very strange and confusing time over the past weeks for everyone. I wish everyone to be safe and healthy during these extremely difficult times. We are monitoring the recommended practices as they unfold daily from the authorities and professionals that are doing their very best to keep things as safe as possible. We are operating with limited hours in both locations, limited staff, and services. We are not accepting cash or issuing fishing licenses at this time. Warranty issues can be done directly with manufacturers at this time. We will be bringing this service back as soon as possible. Licenses can be purchased online. If you require information or assistance, please call the shops for help.
Fishing opportunities are very limited but encouraged if people can follow the strict rules of social distancing, sanitation, and other preventive suggestions to avoid the spread of COVID-19.
The local rivers are now into the spring melt and water levels are on the rise. Anglers are enjoying some extra time from work, please be safe while you are out on the water. Boat launches are mainly closed at the present time, however, there is talk about some being opened soon. Check with the authorities for openings, we will announce if we get any information that is available to us.
Sturgeon anglers have been very happy with the fishing over the past weeks, with some very productive days. The eulachons are in the river now so the sturgeon are on the feast.
The Chilliwack River has some good flow with that beautiful color that brings in fresh fish that are not shy on grabbing your baits, flies, or lures. Crowds are not too bad if you can get out and be safe at the same time, enjoy!
The interior lakes are starting to open up with the typical good reports for this time of year. If you are heading out for this great opportunity, please respect the communities and people that you are visiting.
The fight continues with our concern for our precious Salmon fisheries and opportunities. Things have been slowed down on process and communication but groups like SFI, FRSA, and BCFDF are continuing to engage with recommendations towards addressing concerns, overstocks, and opportunities.
To my fellow anglers, I wish you all the very best of health and safekeeping. Stay positive and supportive to everyone. This is a test on how we can deal with adversity by working together and being respectful to each other.
